Dear David, We have just returned from a lovely afternoon down at Point Lonsdale. Had a cup of tea upon arrival, and then headed down to the beach, where Mia was the only child who wanted to swim .. but of course they all ended up in the water (except Charlotte who was happy climbing on her pram for a while and then building sandcastles with Sammy). Max and PT dug big tunnels, which were filled with water frequently, as the tide was coming in. Mia swam for the longest, and had to be coaxed out of the water after about an hour .. only about 17 degrees by that stage, but she didn't feel cold until she got out of the water! A quick walk home (with Sammy pushing Charlotte's pram - permission was granted by Charlotte, much to Kate's surprise!!) was followed by all kids in the bath, except modest Max, who had a shower after everyone else had exited the bathroom. During the bathroom chaos Seanie whipped down the street and got fish and chips for dinner. Mia has discovered calamari rings and potato cakes (thanks to Imogen). PT and Max had huge hamburgers, and Charlotte had three serves of chippies. No leftovers, everyone was starving! The five kids played beautifully together. We had a nice cup of tea and coffee before loading up and driving back to Melb, Seanie listening to the Saints trounce Fremantle by 80+ points. Tigers are playing Demons tomorrow. Kate said she is disappointed about not having internet access down at Lonnie, but wants you to know that they are al thinking of you constantly and very much looking forward to seeing you when you return from this epic adventure! Following are some things they wanted you to know: Mia's eye tooth fell out; PT stood up on a surfboard; Mia and PT had a surfing lesson; Charlotte had her first Tim Tam (Rachael was there to witness it, a very proud moment!!); Mia dived under the waves all by herself; The Easter Bunny came and brought PT 27 eggs, and Mia 33 eggs; Kate and Charlotte have new wetsuits; Charlotte says "Bye bye poo poos".
What a gorgeous bunch they are! They send lots of love to you, as do the Colliers.
Stants. The Butterys are on board and tracking your progress. Sounds like a great holiday!! First photo posted looks like you have lost weight already so I expect you will be skinnier than me by the end of it. Keep powering along and say gidday to the other boys for us.
It is now 27 April in cold and rainy Melbourne. Congratulations on yet another 'first across the line' at CP 3. On the down hill run, pardon the pun. We are all on your case. Hope the equipement including the human body parts hold up for the final leg and that Iain's snow blindness isn't as bad as it looks and that you can still see where you are supposed to be going. Do hope the facial hair isn't creating too much wind drag. Go chaps and get over that line FIRST!
Hi Dave this is a test on the blog. I will be back if it works!! Finally had time to sit at computer with no kids (all passed out in bed) and test my dinosaur skills. Monday 27th
Hey it worked. Very excited I am finally on air , just wish I had this while we were away but our thoughts were constantly with you. Everyone are amazed by your lead so keep it up....no doubt you would have finished the race by the time you get this message. We all arrived safely back in London on Saturday and Chris was there to collect the pretty tired bunch. The kids travelled really well but huge thanks to DS and DVD! Thankfully C was happy to watch loads of Peppa Pig and Mickey Mouse. We returned to the house to find Steve had come and done quite a few jobs which are great but will return next week to finish up. Juliet and Paul were happy to see us back especially as our alarm has been going off constantly...thanks to our friendly mouse! No 2 work in progress looks great- they are going to have loads of living space. Little ones went back to school today. Mia was dressed and keen for it before 7am but Pt didn't show quite the same excitement. You will see a huge change in the gang but especially Charlotte who has far more hair, taller and here vocabulary still shocks me. Hang in there...can't wait to have you back with us. Love to you all. k x
Gday J-One. Sounds like you are on the home stretch. Tigers even inspired by your efforts and had a win for you on the weekend. Been checking your team out on the map and sounds liek you have a handy lead still and from what I could read, you are expected to finish this week? Enjoy the trip back to Resolute and you will enjoy getting back home even more to thaw out and see the family. Enjoy the final stages.
